Watford FC – Better washroom experience

The Challenge

When playing to a capacity crowd, Watford FC is host to over 21,000 fans. If you are a facilities manager, you’ll understand the great strain this puts on the water pressure in the toilets and washrooms. In Watford’s case, a lack of water pressure was causing problems and something had to be done. So, the facilities team called Dura Pump for help.

The water pressure was nowhere near strong enough to cope with the demand on match days, to the point where sometimes the water ran out completely.  The result was a less-than-satisfactory experience for the fans. With little space available for installation, apart from on some old steps to the stadium, our Dura Pump engineers faced the kind of challenge they relish.

Our Solution

To avoid future problems with the supply, our engineers advised a change in systems from mains-fed water to boosted water.

This entailed intercepting the main water supply and installing two new 15,000 ltr large storage tanks along with a twin variable speed booster set.  The Dura Pump team also produced a bespoke frame to house the tanks on the stairs.

The Result

The new tanks provide substantial water storage, ensuring that there is no risk of it running out at peak demand times, particularly during match days.  The new system provides enough water at the correct pressure resulting in a happy washroom experience for the Watford FC fans and their visitors.
