Peristaltic Pumps

A peristaltic pump is a type of positive displacement pump used for pumping a large range of fluids. They have the simplest and most gentle pumping action. They are also commonly known as roller pumps or hose pumps.

  • Hygenic options available
  • Ability to pump high solid contents
  • For accurate and high volume dosing
  • Gentle pumping action for sheer sensitive products
explore the full benefits

Peristaltic pumps have the simplest and most gentle pumping action of any pump and are ideal for pumping shear sensitive products. They have the ability to dose very accurately, they are unaffected by abrasion, and can perform high suction lifts, run dry and pump pressures up to 16 bar.

The fluid within the pump is contained by flexible hoses fitted inside a circular pump casing a rotor with a number of rollers or shoes rotates and compresses the flexible tube. As the rollers mover over the tube it comes under compression is pinched closed, forcing the fluid to be moved through the tube.Once tube opens to its normal state after the passing of the rollers, the suction end draws fluid back into the hose, for the cycle to continue.

Typically, peristaltic pumps have two or more rollers, or shoes. Peristaltic pumps can run continuously, or can be used within systems for dosing of smaller amounts of fluid.

  • Easy maintenance, hose the only wearing part, easy to sterilize and clean
  • Range of hoses and tubing available to suit many product and chemical applications
  • Ability to run dry indefinitely due to the hose being externally lubricated
  • Ranges available with fast hose change ability
  • Gentle shear sensitive pumping action
  • Ideal for pumping thick and abrasive fluids
  • Ability to pump abrasive solids, slurries containing up to 80% inorganic solids and 15% organic solids
  • Gentle pumping action for sheer sensitive products
  • Sealess, no mechanical seals to replace, ideal for corrosive chemicals
  • Self priming
  • Hygienic options available for sanitary related applications
  • Typically energy inefficient, due to friction on the hose
  • Standard Flows: 0 – 300m3/h
  • Pressures: up to 16 bar
  • Hose materials available are NR (Natural Rubber), NBR (Nitrile Buna Rubber), NBRF (Nitrile Buna Rubber Foodgrade), EPDM and Hypalon
  • Hose inserts are available in stainless steel, polypropylene and PVDF
  • Hygienic couplings for sanitary applications
