Large scale inverter replacement supporting data centre cooling pumps.
The Challenge
110kW Inverter Replacement, Secondary Cooling Pumps
The site’s cooling pumps rely on a 110kW inverter to drive the Armstrong pump. Cooling is central to reducing reliance on mechanical chillers and the inverter driving the pump needed replacing without disruption. A job of this scale, at 110kW, sits at the top end of pump control equipment and demonstrates large scale data centre capability.
The Solution
- Engineers attended site to isolate and safely remove the existing 110kW inverter from the Armstrong pump.
- A replacement Danfoss FC202 110kW IP54 inverter was supplied and installed.
- The existing back plate on the Armstrong motor was reused to mount the new inverter, avoiding unnecessary additional works.
- All mechanical and electrical connections were completed, and the system was tested before being left fully operational.
The Outcome
Cooling capability was restored at full 110kW capacity, with the replacement completed cleanly using existing mounting infrastructure.
- Cooling capacity fully reinstated, supporting the site’s energy-efficient cooling strategy.
- Reuse of the existing back plate avoided unnecessary rework and kept the job efficient.
- Demonstrates Dura Pump’s capability to handle high-power, industrial-scale inverter replacements as confidently as smaller routine works.
