What is a fire pump? Industrial fire pumps are typically a centrifugal pump or multistage pump. They are normally on a fire set or hydrant pump with typically 2 or more pumps coupled together with a common manifold, valves and a control system. Usually, a fire pumping system will pump cold water from a large holding tank. It is activated through a drop in pressure in the system and will continue to run until the correct pressure is met again.
Fire pumps, fire pumping sets or hydrant pumps are the solution to provide a volume of water to a sprinkler system, hose reel or fire hydrant. Depending on your application, the correct specification of pump and system will need to be installed and maintained according to regulations.
