Varisco self-priming pump repairs
The Challenge
A chicken processing plant contacted our company with a technical concern regarding a Varisco J4 self-priming pump. They reported insufficient flow, and they were uncertain whether the problem originated from the system or the pump itself.
The Solution
Upon reviewing the situation, our technical team concluded that the pump was likely the source of the problem, given that it was a new issue rather than an ongoing one. To precisely identify the issue, we retrieved the pump from the client’s facility and conducted a flow rate test in our workshop. The test revealed that the maximum flow capacity was only 885 litres per minute, significantly below the expected 2,500 litres per minute. Further inspection uncovered excessive wear on both the impeller and wear plate, resulting in a 3mm gap between them, whereas the manufacturer’s recommendation indicated a 0.5mm tolerance.
To rectify the situation, we meticulously rebuilt the pump, replacing key components such as shafts, sleeve, wear plate, impeller, motor bearings, and gaskets. Subsequently, we returned the pump to the client’s site.
The Outcome
As a consequence of our intervention, the client can now rely on a fully repaired pump, confident that the issue has been effectively resolved. This restoration ensures that the wastewater will once again discharge at the correct rate, meeting operational requirements.
