Why Asset Tagging Matters in Complex Facilities

Dura Pump recognises the critical role that effective asset management plays in maintaining facilities. Large infrastructure environments such as hospitals, universities and prisons can contain hundreds, sometimes thousands, of mechanical assets spread across multiple plantrooms and even multiple sites. Managing them effectively can quickly become a challenge.

Asset Tagging

Here’s how our asset tracking portal works:

  1. Site Survey and Asset Tagging: Dura Pump can conduct a comprehensive site survey to identify and tag all your pumps. Alternatively, asset tagging will be carried out as a standard procedure during routine servicing of your systems, with each pump assigned a unique asset number.
  2. Collation and Upload of Data: Once the asset information is collected, it will be added to our asset portal, including pump/system details, location, specific notes, and your reference/name for each item. This ensures that all relevant information is easily accessible and organised.
  3. Access to Dura Connect Portal: With all the data on our asset tracking portal, we will provide you with a login to our Dura Connect Portal. This portal grants you access to the comprehensive asset information, as well as features for tracking quotes, jobs, invoices, and payments. The portal is designed to accommodate multiple sites if needed.

We recently carried out an asset tagging project at an NHS hospital where we identified and tagged 177 assets across 10 plantrooms. These included booster sets, pressurisation units, pressure vessels, heating pumps, chilled water pumps and control panels from a variety of manufacturers.

In facilities like these it’s common for multiple contractors to be responsible for different systems, each operating under their own service agreements with varying scopes, responsibilities and contract end dates. Without a clear record of assets and locations, keeping track of who maintains what, and when, can become incredibly complex.

This is where asset tagging plays a critical role.

By clearly tagging each asset and capturing its details, we can feed accurate information into Connect, our online portal that provides a centralised view of all assets across a site or even across multiple sites.

With Connect, facilities teams can:

  • View a complete list of assets across all plantrooms
  • Access key information about each asset instantly
  • Understand service responsibilities and contract timelines
  • Improve maintenance planning and compliance
  • Reduce the risk of missed servicing or overlooked equipment.

Instead of relying on spreadsheets, paper records or fragmented information, teams gain a single, accessible source of truth for their assets.

In complex environments like healthcare estates, where reliability and compliance are critical, having this level of visibility can make asset management far more efficient – and far less time-consuming.

Asset tagging may seem like a small step, but when combined with a system like Connect it becomes a powerful tool for managing complex infrastructure.

In conclusion, Dura Pump’s asset tracking portal, coupled with our remote monitoring capabilities, provides you with comprehensive control and visibility over your pump assets. Our goal is to simplify asset management, making it easier for you to maintain and optimise your facility efficiently.
