Boosting Pressure to Help Luxury Knitwear Brand

The Challenge

Our customer, a luxury knitwear brand based in the UK, required a new booster set for their manufacturing centre in the Midlands. They were about to install new dye equipment that required a hot and cold water feed with a pressure of between 4 – 6 bar. However, the existing supply feed only provided 2 bar, which was insufficient. Therefore, a new set of booster pumps was necessary. Our customer wanted reliability and longevity from their new booster set.

The Solution


To meet the required pressure, we recommended a fully automatic booster set for the water supply. The solution comprised three Grundfos pumps, with Danfoss inverters and a control panel, all mounted onto a frame for ease of use and installation.

The triple booster set included:

  • 3 x Grundfos 4.0kW pumps coupled in parallel
  • A Dura Pump triple booster panel complete with panel mount displays for the inverters and individual isolators for each inverter
  • 3 x Danfoss FC 202 Inverters with Cascade, mounted in a control panel
  • Stainless steel discharge manifold, suction manifold, and base plate
  • All necessary non-return and isolation valves
  • Pressure gauge, transmitter, and vessels
  • Duty Point: 600 l/min @ 4.0 bar (each pump capable of 300 l/min) Duty/Assist/Standby

The inverters were programmed to maintain a constant pressure regardless of flow changes and fluctuations.

The Outcome
