Emergency Booster Set Repair at a High-Security Prison
The Problem
A Category B High-Security Prison faced a critical operational failure when its primary cold-water booster set suddenly shut down. A faulty inlet valve in an adjacent water tank failed, causing it to overflow continuously. The water cascaded directly onto the booster set located below, flooding three inverters with sensitive electronic components.
The water flooding caused all three inverters to shut down, leading to complete system failure. As a result, three wings of the prison lost their entire cold-water supply, immediately jeopardising essential services, including sanitation, cooking and cleaning. This created a significant operational and security risk.
The Solution

Within just 15 minutes of arriving on-site, our team had assessed the situation and implemented an effective interim solution. To restore water flow immediately, the engineers bypassed the three water-damaged inverters, reconfiguring the pumps to run at a constant fixed speed. This instantly reinstated the cold-water supply to the affected prison wings while new, inverters were sourced.
The Outcome
