Fill and Spill Unit Replacement for Data Centre
The Challenge
Engineers were called out to investigate a fill and spill unit that had stopped working. Investigation confirmed the 0.75kW 230V multistage pump had seized, with running amps recorded at 14.8A confirming the fault. Fill and spill units maintain correct water level and pressure within closed pipework systems; a seized pump on this type of unit leaves the associated circuit unable to self-regulate, risking air ingress and pressure instability across the connected cooling infrastructure.
The Solution
- Engineers attended site, safely isolated and removed the seized 0.75kW 230V multistage pump.
- A replacement Reflex 0.75kW 230V multistage pump was supplied and installed, along with a pump adapter set.
- All mechanical and electrical connections were carried out.
- Parameters and settings were configured to match the operating requirements of the circuit, then the system was tested and commissioned.
The Outcome
The fill and spill unit was returned to correct working order following a reactive callout, with the replacement pump configured to the specific requirements of the circuit it serves.
- Automatic level and pressure control restored to the connected cooling circuit.
- Fast turnaround from callout to commissioning limited the site’s exposure to further risk.
- Correct configuration of parameters ensured the replacement pump matched the original duty rather than a generic fit.
