Muffin Monster Repair for HM Prison
The Challenge
We were asked by one of our clients to swap out their existing Muffin Monster which is an inline macerator used on their sewage system to a spare one they had on site. The area was a confined space and also inside the prison. The client also wanted the existing Muffin Monster repairing and returning to site as a spare.
The Solution
The above challenge was not an issue for Dura Pump as re regularly work with Muffin Monsters, Mono Munchers and other inline macerators. Our engineering team is confined space trained so the removal and replacement of the macerator was straightforward.
Once the spare macerator had been installed, we returned the existing Muffin Monster to our workshop for a full dismantle and inspection. Once a full workshop report had been created we then quoted our client for work required using genuine Sulzer parts. Having received the go-ahead from our client we carried out a full clean on the macerator, prepared all the parts, supplied and installed new cutters, bearings, gaskets, coupling, had the Atex motor re-built with new bearings. We re-assembled the completed unit, tested it and delivered back to site for their spare.
The Outcome
As a result, our client was able to contact us as point of call for the installation through to the repair of the spare pump, minimising hassle for them and ensuring continuity throughout the job.
