The Challenge
Our customer, a large teaching hospital in London required new pumps for their hot water system. The old, fixed speed belt driven pumps were inefficient and reaching the end of their life.
From the survey we conducted on our site visit, we knew that we would not only be able to deliver the customer’s pump requirements but also offer substantial energy savings by recommending the latest technology.
The Solution
By supplying and installing direct drive pumps with inverters, 4 ABB ACH580 HVAC 7.5kW and 4 ABB ACH580 HVAC 11.0kW, we have estimated that the hospital will now benefit from a 35% saving on electricity usage.
Energy Saving Benefits
With the newly installed system, the customer will save 87,248 KWh’s per year, with the inverters on the direct drive pumps saving 35% on energy consumption.
The old pumps were running constantly at full speed but by installing inverters with the new pumps, the speed now varies according to demand.

The estimated payback for this project is 1.38 years (or 17 months)
