Industrial macerators are commonly known as munchers and grinders, and are widely specified as commercial macerators. Two of the most common types found are Mono Munchers and Muffin Monsters.
They are designed to protect waste pumps and other equipment by effectively macerating raw sewage, sludges and industrial waste. In many systems, a waste macerator pump is installed as a front-line defence to reduce ragging, protect impellers, and minimise unplanned pump station downtime. They are a very effective means for dealing with wet wipes, sanitary products and waste water solids reduction, particularly in the raw sewage application.
Macerator pumps, including waste macerator pump systems, are most commonly installed prior to the pump station or at the head of works to reduce blockages within the pump station, and therefore reducing blockages and resulting costly breakdowns.
Installation can be either pipeline or within a channel, with a guide rail mounted option for easy removal and servicing.
The waste macerator pump is controlled by an intelligent control system, which monitors the load on the cutters and automatically reverses to avoid blockages in the cutters, and prevent motor overload — helping protect downstream waste pumps.
