What’s The Difference Between Floor Standing And Wall Mounted Pressurisation Units?

Typically, floor standing pressurisation units are the more traditional type of unit, whereas the wall-mounted units are the newer variety on the market.

Floor Standing Pressurisation Units

– These have a break tank of water with one or two pumps which they use to pressurise the system.
– The unit uses a pressure switch or pressure transducer to monitor the pressure of the system and fill it as necessary.
– They do not rely on the incoming water pressure to pressurise the system.

Wall Mounted Pressurisation Units

  • Have no pumps – reduces the need for maintenance.
  • Have no break tank – reduces the need for maintenance and removes the risk of legionella.
  • Very compact and take up less space.
  • Completely digitally controlled.

One key thing to note is that your incoming water pressure needs to be higher than your system pressure requires, otherwise the new style units will not work correctly. In addition, some larger systems may require the traditional pressurisation unit because of the volume of water required.

What Are The New Style Pumpless Pressurisation Units?

The new generation of pressurisation sets are pumpless and rely on the mains water pressure to fill the heating or cooled water circuit via solenoid valves. They tend to be wall mounted, very simple and have lower maintenance needs, but they do require a correct mains pressure for them to work correctly.

The two main units on the market are the Mikrofill 3 and the Flamco Flexfiller Direct G4, both available through Dura Pump.

Flamco Flexfiller Direct G4 Pressurisation Units

An innovative solution for maintaining the pressure in closed heating and cooling systems, these units provide a reliable and efficient way to add or remove water from a system, ensuring that the pressure remains at the desired level.

Features of Mikrofill 3 and Flamco Flexfiller Direct G4 Pressurisation Units

Both the Mikrofill 3 and Flamco Flexfiller Direct G4 pressurisation sets come with a range of features that make them an ideal choice for heating systems (and cooling systems in the case of the Flamco Flexfiller) of all sizes.

  • Compact size – wall mounted, small and lightweight; simple to set up in any location
  • Easy and quick installation – no need for specialist tools or skills
  • Simple operation – easy to operate, with clear and concise instructions
  • Automatic control system – monitors the pressure within a heating (or cooling) system and adds or removes water as necessary
  • Safety features – including overpressure protection and low water level detection

Benefits of Mikrofill 3 and Flamco Flexfiller Direct G4 Pressurisation Units

  • Improved system efficiency – by maintaining the correct pressure level, both units can improve system efficiency.
  • Reduced energy costs – increased system efficiency can lead to reduced energy costs.
  • Increased system lifespan – maintaining the correct pressure within a heating or cooling system, means the lifespan of the system is increased and the need for costly repairs or replacements reduced.
  • Improved safety – range of safety features helps ensure the safe and reliable operation of the system.
  • Easy maintenance – easy to maintain, with simple instructions and easy access to components.
  • Reliable performance – both types of pressurisation unit are designed to provide reliable and consistent performance, ensuring that your heating – and/or cooling – system operates efficiently and effectively.

If you are considering installing a Mikrofill 3 or a Flamco Flexfiller Direct G4 pressurisation unit, be sure to choose a reputable supplier and installer, like Dura Pump, to ensure that you get the best possible performance and reliability from your system.
