Booster Sets

Booster sets are the solution to low water pressure. By installing a booster set system, you achieve a constant reliable water pressure.

  • A consistently growing demand for more water.
  • A requirement for constant pressure as standard.
  • Water Authorities only have to guarantee a pressure of 1 bar at a simultaneous flow of 9 litres/min.
  • Booster sets are the solution to low water pressure.

Usually a booster set will pump cold water, although they can pump hot water, softened water, processed water or even grey water in the case of a rainwater harvesting system. The main purpose of a cold water booster pump set is to supply water to a building, commonly where water storage is required or mains water pressure is not sufficient to reach the top of the building or to meet the demand.

For example, in the case of a tower block, the mains will only provide half a bar of pressure which amounts to roughly five metres of height when pumped. In this case, the pressurisation unit will provide enough pressure for the liquid to reach all water points. Some buildings require water storage so that there is enough water to meet demand, and some can store up to a day’s worth of water. The same type of water storage is also used as a break in a water system, as some processes can cause contamination so this helps alleviate any risk.

Low water pressure is becoming an increasingly worrying issue for citizens around the world. There are three main reasons for this:

  • A consistently growing demand for more water
  • A requirement for constant pressure as standard
  • Water Authorities only have to guarantee a pressure of 1 bar at a simultaneous flow of 9 litres/min

Hot and Cold Water Booster Pumps are the solution to low water pressure. By installing a pump system, you achieve a constant reliable water pressure, giving you and your users a quality experience.

A list of example features below is shown for our range of booster sets. We can supply a booster set to meet your exact demands, budget and pressure requirements.

  • Duplex booster sets are set up to run in duty/standby and duty/duty assist. This means that on low flows only one pump will run at low speed (minimising power consumption, resulting in substantial energy savings) and this duty pump will automatically switch every 48 hours for even wear and preventing legionella. When higher flows are called for both pumps will run.
  • Constant pressure regardless of demand – this makes them ideal for supplying water where there is variable demand. This demand may vary daily, weekly or monthly, depending on where the unit is installed.
  • All normal protections are included including high and low voltage protection, over and under pressure protection and dry running.
  • Units are available with stainless steel manifolds, baseplates, isolation and check valves for clean fresh water.
  • BMS and SMS connectivity – available connections to provide remote monitoring of your system.
  • Smartphone connectivity – can be used to change settings, fault find and allows remote access.
  • Booster sets are available in single, twin, triple, quad and bespoke up to 8 pumps
  • Standard range 0.55kw to 30kw
  • Single-phase 230V available up to 2.2.kW
  • Standard flow range 0 to 650 m3/h
  • Standard pressure range 0 to 16 bar
  • Bespoke range 650m3/h to 2000m3/h
  • Bespoke range with increased pressures up to 40 bar
  • Manufacturers: Grundfos, Lowara, Wilo, Calpeda, KSB, Dura Pump Bespoke
